Troubleshooting
Did you previously have a dial-up connection?
Yes? Then you need to make sure that your Broadband connection is setup. To do this just open your internet browser (i.e. Internet Explorer) and go to ..
Tools
Internet Options
Connections
You will see your internet connections listed. Delete your old dial-up connection and then click on "AccessRunner DSL" and select "Set Default". Also, select "Never dial a connection".
Have you got enough microfilters?
A microfilter is needed for each socket in use on the phone number activated for Broadband. As an example if you have three sockets in your house, one in the study where your PC and phone are, one in the bedroom for a phone and a third in the lounge unused. You would need two filters, one for the study for the Broadband connection and the phone and another for the phone in the bedroom. If a set top box was to be added in the lounge for digital TV another filter would be required there.
If you require more microfilters you can order them on this website by clicking the "Hardware" link above. Place your order by 3pm and we will endeavour to send out your hardware by the following working day.
Are your VPI and VCI settings correct?
You can confirm the details using the following:
Double click on the 'AccessRunner Control Panel' icon on the desktop. Doing so will bring up the ADSL Line Information Screen
At this screen, press ALT + P on your keyboard. This will then bring up the options window.
Click on the 'Protocol Setup' tab at the top of the Window.
Within the protocol options, please check that the VPI is set to 0 and the VCI is set to 38.
If the VCI is set to 35, please change it from 35 to 38 and then click 'Apply'.
Click on the 'General' tab at the top of the Window to see the ADSL Line Information page. Click on the 'Stop ADSL' button to the right hand side of this window, and wait approximately a minute for the modem to deactivate.
Once the button has renamed to 'Start ADSL', please click it and wait several minutes for the modem to then reinitialise. Once this sequence has completed, please try connecting once more.
